LOWELL, MA, June 30, 2016 – Vantiv, Inc. (NYSE: VNTV), a leading provider of payment processing services and related technology solutions for merchants and financial institutions of all sizes, announced today the company’s employees, under the VantivGives program, raised more than $13,000 for The Wish Project, a charity that provides basic goods to the underprivileged living in the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts.

The donation will help improve the quality of life of hundreds of families in need. The mission of The Wish Project is to provide people with basic furniture, home and baby goods, primarily through reusing and recycling. By providing goods to people in crisis, they help end needless suffering in the short term, while helping to end homelessness in the long term. Team members in Lowell have been supporting The Wish Project over the years, both financially and through our volunteer efforts, making a big impact on Lowell families.

“Working with The Wish Project in Lowell has been a tremendous source of fulfillment for Vantiv employees. We recognize that the task of helping 100-200 families each and every week is a daunting one, and we’re doing our part to provide as much as we can,” said Adam Rice, vice president of eCommerce Software Engineering at Vantiv. “It’s particularly satisfying to give back to a local charity that provides direct help to families in need.”

Donna Hunnewell started The Wish Project in 2002. As the internet was rising, she saw an opportunity to connect busy social workers with donors, a matching service for goods and agencies in need. The project gives goods in three main ways: 1) Wishes – social workers from partner agencies place wishes of needed goods for their clients using the online Wish Placement system; 1) Projects – bulk items given directly to partner agencies to distribute to clients; and 3) Emergency Aid to victims of emergencies such as fire and natural disasters who are left homeless.

"Summer is the lowest time of funding for Wish and the highest months of need. So many social workers, therapists and families go on vacation leaving the elderly, children and those in need with less support than normal. Because of this donation, we will be able to provide many basic wishes and for all the unexpected emergency wishes we get in the hot months,” said Donna Hunnewell founder of The Wish Project. “On the Project front, our Backpack Attack will be a huge success once again. We can finally afford to purchase packs in July when we need them to get them stuffed by August. Thousands of moms, hundreds of social workers and all of our board and staff thank Vantiv for this effort."

ABOUT THE WISH PROJECT

The Mission of The Wish Project is to provide basic goods to 35,000 qualified needy clients living in the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts each year. The approach to accommodate this mission is met by granting individual Wishes for goods and furniture, by sponsoring seasonal projects such as providing backpacks, Christmas gifts and Mother’s Day bags, by providing emergency support assistance for fire and suddenly-homeless victims, and, finally, by instituting a for-profit venture to fund the other three.
