Mark and Charlene started the Massage Envy franchise in Canton, Ga., in February 2015. Massage Envy Canton offers customized, affordable, and convenient facials and massages performed by licensed therapists and aestheticians.
Career before this business:
Prior to starting his own business, Mark worked at Kroger for 29 years and has 34 years of experience in retail management.
Why start this business:
As a way to recover from knee surgery, Mark used massage therapy to ease the pain. After his positive experience and learning about Massage Envy Franchising, Mark decided to embark on a new journey to open his own Massage Envy franchise. His goal is to help people in his community look and feel their best.
The greatest reward comes from the positive impact his team makes on people’s lives by offering quality and affordable massages and facials. Mark knows from personal experience that massage therapy can help clients heal their physical and emotional selves.
Franchising offers several advantages such as a proven business model and a network of existing customers. However, there are also trade-offs. Franchise owners have to give up some independence and freedom as franchisees are required to comply with the corporate rules and guidelines.
Successful marketing promotion to attract new customers:
- Nationwide promotions – Due to its increasing number of franchise locations and cooperative budget, Massage Envy Franchising recently rolled out nationwide marketing promotions to replace regional and local promotions, including national TV channel and sports center marketing. As a result, Massage Envy has received more exposure to the masses. As a voice of the franchisee, Mark is excited to serve on Massage Envy’s national advisory board where he provides feedback on the national marketing promotional strategy.
- Local promotions – Massage Envy Canton has generated most of its local leads by running promotions on social media, including Facebook and Twitter, and by sending coupons in Valpak’s direct mail program.
- Loyalty and reward program – The Massage Envy Wellness Plan offers discounted member rates and easy access to massages, spa facials, Murad® products, and more. Members can use their credits in any of the 1100 Massage Envy locations across the United States.
- Gift cards – Massage Envy also offers gift cards with different designs to address the needs of their customers. Last minute or long distance gifts can also be purchased and emailed from their website with their eGift online product. Great for holidays, birthdays, thank yous, and so much more.
