Network Announcement: FIS Gateway Transaction Fee



Our goal is to provide you with the service, support and information you need to effectively manage your electronic payments. This means keeping you informed and educated on industry changes that may impact your business – including updates from the credit card associations, PIN debit networks, SNAP (aka EBT) and WIC Processors regarding interchange rates, processing requirements, network fees and operating rules and regulations.

FIS Gateway Transaction Fee

Earlier this year we communicated the potential for a fee from FIS for the processing of electronic benefit transactions. Over the past several months Vantiv and FIS have been in ongoing discussions and recently reached an agreement.

Effective December 1, 2017, SNAP and WIC transactions from the states FIS serves as the processor for will be assessed a $0.01 gateway transaction fee. The fees will appear on your invoice by state.

For your reference the states currently supported by FIS are: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas3, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi1, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey1, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee2, Texas, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Additionally, the following states have announced plans to convert to FIS:

  • California – January 21, 2018
  • US Virgin Islands – Q1 2018
