With the Wall Street reform legislation in 2010, Congress passed the Durbin Amendment which regulated debit interchange and required card issuers to offer two or more “unaffiliated” network routing options giving merchants the “right to route” debit transactions to achieve lower costs.
As the number one debit processor by transaction volume in the United States, Vantiv has for several years leveraged its buying power, breadth of network connections, and unmatched data science experience to offer Prime – our least-cost debit routing service for Card Present merchants.
Now, with the launch of Prime for CNP, Vantiv also extends this capability to Card Not Present/eCommerce merchants.
Available now, Prime for CNP is a fully-managed, data-driven service. Vantiv’s intelligent routing engine examines each eligible transaction as well as the BIN/MCC/amount combination and then routes to the appropriate network based on predetermined client network strategy or lowest possible cost.
Typically, Prime routing yields savings of 2-6 percent on debit interchange and assessments. Prime for CNP is a turnkey, real-time routing product built on a sophisticated routing algorithm and proprietary payment data warehouse.
In 2018, Vantiv will be adding new “achieved savings” reporting to Vantiv iQ for eCommerce and expanding allowable MCC groups and transaction types.
