Webinar unveils payment terminal essentials for POS providers
Regardless of the industry they service, POS providers have a common goal of getting their merchants EMV-enabled. And this goal is shared by Vantiv technology partner POS Portal, a leading distributor of order entry and terminal modules. From hardware financing and protection programs, to deployment, compliance and encryption management, POS Portal streamlines the process of delivering secure and maintained POS devices to merchants, wherever they are.
Vantiv recently hosted a webinar with POS Portal to explain how our dealers can work with POS portal, and the different options available to delivery EMV-enabled devices to their merchants.
“We work with VARs, ISVs and dealers to make the transition to EMV as smooth as possible,” explained Brooke Turner, Product Marketing for POS Portal, who led the webinar with her colleague, Kevin Nguyen, ISV Channel Manager for POS Portal.
Based out of Sacramento, CA, POS Portal boasts the largest key library in the country and has 150+ ISV partners and 20+ gateway partners. Two warehouses, one on the West coast, and the other in Louisville, allow the company to ship from the distribution center closest to the destination for quick order fulfilment. It’s an effective approach and allows the company to ship 7-8 million devices per year.
POS Portal sells direct to merchant with many of the top iPad based POS systems, and sells wholesale and via contract deployment with large processors in the industry. Partners include Focus POS, rPower, FuturePOS, and CRS.
“We can support almost any integration when it comes to payment devices,” explained Turner, who added the company maintains multiple annual PCI certifications including PCI Validated P2PE (Domain6), PCI, FD, and SAS70.
Turner and Nguyen noted that POS Portal retains their competitive edge by helping their partners close more deals and retain more customers. The company achieves this by bundling hardware bundling for easy ordering, providing a high accuracy rate in order fulfillment (99.7%), and offering innovative sales enablement tools including branded landing pages, knowledgeable and responsive sales, support and product administration teams, and offering data sharing.
“We try to tailor our offerings depending on the need,” explains Nguyen.
POS Portal strives to make their hardware easy to access. The wholesale offering includes many features such as a curated product catalog, pre-built bundles, competitive pricing, and free customized landing pages and shipping. Dealers also have access to a dedicated support team and sales reps, and can earn “Portal Bucks” promotional incentives for discounted hardware.
“We try to make it fun to engage with the brand and keep peoples’ attention,” said Nguyen. “We understand dealers have a lot going on and it’s important to take a break and have fun and maintain attention on things that will be important today and in the future with your merchant base.”
POS Portal’s direct to merchant option offers a storefront cobranded with the dealer’s brand and Vantiv. In addition to many of the features offered on the wholesale site, the direct to merchant site offers both buy and lease options. POS Portal also handles all merchant underwriting, and has a current approval rate of 70% or higher.
“We build out the storefronts, and merchants can check out directly from email, making for a really good merchant experience,” explained Turner.
Support is a big piece of POS Portal’s offering and involves three levels: technical support for device issues, next business day replacement for device failure, and referrals for troubleshooting other issues.
“Our teams are here to take calls after the sale and be your support team,” said Turner.
“We’ve got the team available and that very specific expertise around terminals,” added Nguyen. “We understand that as a VAR or dealer you’re called on to understand a lot about a lot of different things. And that’s where we make our team available to help answer those questions and walk through the different options.”
With custom landing pages and co-branded sites, Salesforce integration and other sales referral tools, one-click orders to eliminate mistakes, dealers have a broad range of resources to help facilitate sales and retain more customers.
“We’re here to help you and your merchants, depending on how you want to work with us,” said Nguyen.
