Low prices aren’t the only savings Walmart is now offering shoppers. On December 10, 1015, Walmart launched Walmart Pay, the mobile payment app designed to save customers time. Twenty two million customers actively use the Walmart app each month and it ranks among the top three retail apps in the Google and Apple app stores.
Convenience is key
The first of its kind among retailers, Walmart Pay is compatible with any mobile device capable of downloading the app and works with all major credit, debit, pre-paid, or Walmart gift cards. Intended to simplify the checkout process by eliminating the need for carrying cash and physical payment cards, this mobile app integrates hand-held technologies for faster, smarter shopping.
How it works
Using any iOS or Android device, customers open the downloaded app, connect to the checkout register by scanning the displayed code, and the payment is complete. Following the transaction, the app will receive an eReceipt that can be viewed at any time.
Currently available only at select stores, Walmart plans to push a complete, nationwide launch by the first half of 2016. According to Daniel Eckert, senior vice president of services for Walmart, integration with other mobile wallets is expected in the future.
